In 1966, George Sweigert came up with an invention that would change technology: the cordless phone. Cordless phones have been around for decades, serving the purpose of simplifying lives. Before cordless phones, there were phones with cords that made it almost impossible to multi-task when using them. While some thought a longer cord would give them more distance to work, the bigger cord only created more problems.
People would find themselves getting tangled within the cord, having forgotten the phone even had a cord due to the far lengths they had traveled away from the base. Others found their family members or coworkers tripping over the long extensions, causing injuries and accidents.
When cordless phones made their debut, life seemed as if someone had pushed the easy button. It became possible to walk around the entire house, or even down the driveway to get the mail. Cordless phones allow users to walk up to 100 meters away from the base of the phone and continue communicating. Mothers could now do the laundry, cook and clean half the house all while having the same conversation. Nowadays, cordless phones are offered in many different brands, sizes, frequencies, styles and colors to suit everyone's needs.
Uniden Corporation was one of the first companies to focus on the cordless phones. They were first to introduce the 900 MHz frequency cordless phones, which offered a better audio quality than the lower frequency models. Uniden cordless phones are well known and sold at popular retailers such as Best Buy, Target, Circuit City and can also be purchased through Internet sites such as Amazon or Ebay.
Another popular brand for cordless phones is Motorola. It offers three different series of cordless phones: Purist E Series, Modernist C Series and Futurist T Series. Each one of these Motorola categories contains at least 10 different cordless phones, ranging in style and frequency. Some are very small and black, while others are enormous and white. The consumer can customize the phone to fit the lifestyle for which it is needed. Motorola phones are sold almost everywhere, from electronic stores to Internet databases.
VTech is also another brand usually found to be cheaper than the previous two manufacturers. VTech also offers many different models, which have more of a variety in style and uniqueness. Yet, the cordless phones are of a lesser quality than its competitors. VTech cordless phones are sold in stores such as Walmart or Sears and can be purchased online as well.
In addition to cordless phones, technology has stepped up a notch and become more high-tech. Companies have now created 2 line cordless phones. This means one phone can receive calls for two different phone lines. This new 2 line cordless phone is ideal for the workplace where two lines are needed at all times.
Cordless phone headsets were also created to make life even easier. Cordless phone headsets are comprised of a speaker placed into the ear, with a little microphone descending down toward the mouth area. With cordless phone headsets, the consumer never has to hold the phone in their hands or be inconvenienced. Both of these new products are found wherever cordless phones and accessories can be purchased.
Cordless phones have simplified lives and continue to make things easier for the consumer as the years pass. With all these brands competing with one another, things are bound to get even simpler in the world of cordless phones.
